B-2 Visa PDF Print E-mail

The B-2 visa is for temporary visitors and is mainly used for the purposes of tourism. The visa may be given for up to 6 months, however, this may be changed in the near future to be less. Traditionally, the term tourist has been termed as visitors who enter the United States for pleasure. Lately, the term “tourist” has included persons entering for medical care and people competing in amateur athletics.

To qualify for a B-2 visa, the applicant must demonstrate that they intend to return home and will not engage in work while in the United States. The applicant must demonstrate to the consular official that the visit will be short in nature and there is a purpose for the visit. Requirements include possible proof of a home and relatives in native country and proof of financial ability to support the visit and its stated purposes.

B-2 visa may be acquired by contacting the U.S. consulate in your home country. In certain cases there maybe complications, and consulting with an immigration attorney may help facilitate the B-2 visa.
